     Dorothea Annette Shay was born on 12 March 1898 at 44 Columbia Street, Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.1 She was the daughter of James Joseph Shay and Emma Annette Cambridge.2,3,1,4 Dorothea Annette Shay married Raymond Christy Daly, son of Harry Louis Daly and Helen Dora Christy, on 27 June 1924 at St. Paul's Cathedral, Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, USA; in an Episcopalian Ceremony.5 Dorothea Annette Shay married Allen Frederick Crabtree Jr., son of Allen Frederick Crabtree and Laurina Petersen, on 18 December 1937 at Reno, Washoe County, Nevada, USA.6 Dorothea Annette Shay died on 13 February 1972 at Sun Coast Hospital, Largo, Pinellas County, Florida, USA, at age 73 of congestral vascular collapse.7 She was buried on 7 May 1972 at South Effingham Cemetery, South Effingham, Carroll County, New Hampshire, USA.8
     She was ill with migraine headaches. An affliction that she passed on to her son Emery.9 Dot attended the Charles C. Perkins School on St. Botolph St in Boston and in 1920 taught in the public school system in NJ. She served on the School Board in Hudson NH from 1942 to 1952 and was also a Trustee of Alvirne High School. Dot was Past Matron in the Calvin Topliff Chapter No 18 Order of the Eastern Star in Freedom NH and served as Grand Representative of the New Hampshire Chapter to the Mississippi Grand Chapter, OES. She was past president of the Lynnfield Center MA Woman's Club; past president of the Effingham NH Woman's Club; past district director of the North Country State Women's Club; and Secretary of the Effingham NH Grange No 313 for 15 years. Dot was also very active in politics serving as Chairman of the Effingham NH Republican Club and also found time to write a weekly newspaper column for the Carroll County Independent for many years. Her last column appeared in the February 17, 1972 edition - just after she died. She lived in Hudson NH from 1939-1952 before moving to Effingham NH, the boyhood home of her husband Allen. She lived in Effingham for the remainder of her life. For the very first time, in 1972, she and Allen went to Florida for the Winter. Apparently the warm Winter weather was to much for her and she did not survive the season.9 She was an Episcopalian.9 She appeared in the census of 1900 in the household of James Joseph Shay and Emma Annette Cambridge as their daughter and they lived in 273 Garfield Ave, Revere, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, USA.10 Dorothea Annette Shay appeared in the census of 1910 in the household of James Joseph Shay and Emma Annette Cambridge as their daughter and they lived in 46 Florence Street, Somerville, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.11 Dorothea Annette Shay appeared in the census of 1920 in the household of James Joseph Shay and Emma Annette Cambridge as their daughter and they lived in 68 Mt Pleasant Court, Somerville, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.12 Dorothea Annette Shay was a public school teacher in 1920.12 She and Allen Frederick Crabtree Jr. appeared in the census of 1940 with Howard Christy Daly and Emery Cambridge Daly and they lived in Pelham Road, Hudson, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA.13
